Frequently Asked Questions

Osteopathy is a hands-on, whole-body approach to healthcare. Rather than focusing solely on the area of pain or discomfort, your practitioner look at how all the systems of your body work together, including your muscles, joints, nerves, and organs, to identify and treat the root cause of what you are experiencing. Using gentle, manual techniques, we help restore balance and freedom of movement throughout the body, supporting your body's natural ability to heal itself. Every treatment is tailored to the individual, taking into account your full health history, lifestyle, and goals. Osteopathy is suitable for people of all ages, from newborns to older adults, and can help with a wide range of conditions including pain, digestive issues, pregnancy discomforts, sports injuries, and much more. If you have never tried osteopathy before, you are in good hands. Most of our patients tell us they wish they had discovered it sooner.

Yes, osteopathy is safe throughout pregnancy, including the first trimester. Our techniques are always adapted to where you are in your pregnancy, and we take extra care to use only the gentlest, most appropriate approaches at every stage. If you have any specific concerns or a high-risk pregnancy, we are always happy to discuss your situation before your first appointment.

Osteopathy is covered by many extended health insurance plans in Ontario. We recommend checking directly with your insurance provider to confirm whether your plan includes osteopathic treatment. We are happy to provide you with a receipt after your session to submit for reimbursement.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us at any time. However, if you have been seen by a doctor or another healthcare professional for your concern, it is always helpful to let us know so we can take your full health picture into account.

Your initial appointment lasts 1 hour, giving us ample time for a thorough assessment and treatment. Follow-up sessions are either 45 minutes or 30 minutes, depending on your needs.

Please bring any relevant medical documents (imaging, reports, or referral letters). These help us tailor your care more effectively.

Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing (like leggings or athletic wear). Avoid jeans or restrictive garments to allow for full movement during assessment and treatment.

Every body is unique, so the number of sessions varies. Our goal is always to get you feeling better as quickly and efficiently as possible, often in fewer visits than expected.

There is no minimum age. We welcome babies from day one of life. In fact, some of our youngest patients come to us in their very first days, often for difficulties with latching and breastfeeding. The sooner we can assess and treat, the sooner your baby can feel comfortable and settled.

Absolutely. A caesarean birth, while sometimes necessary and life-saving, means your baby didn't go through the natural process of moving through the birth canal. This journey actually plays an important role in releasing pressure from the skull and preparing the body for life outside the womb. An osteopathic check-up after a C-section is a great way to make sure your baby's body is balanced, free, and ready to thrive.

Yes, and these are some of the most common reasons parents bring their babies to see us. Tension in the jaw, neck, cranial bones, or diaphragm can directly affect your baby's ability to feed comfortably and digest well. Osteopathy uses very gentle techniques to release these restrictions and help your baby's body function more freely. Many parents notice a significant difference within just a few sessions.

We generally recommend waiting around 3 weeks after a vaginal birth and 6 weeks after a caesarean section before coming in for your postpartum session. This gives your body the initial time it needs to begin healing. That said, every recovery is different, so if you have any questions about your specific situation, don't hesitate to reach out before booking.

All three disciplines can be beneficial, and they are often complementary. The key difference with osteopathy is its whole-body approach. Rather than focusing solely on the site of pain or injury, we look at how all the systems of your body are connected and functioning together. A knee problem, for example, might trace back to a restriction in the hip or foot. By treating the root cause rather than just the symptom, we aim for longer-lasting results and a lower chance of the issue returning.
